Description
The New Hampshire State Forest Nursery states: Concolor Fir, Abies concolor - Native to southwest United States, this tree exhibits blue-green needles up to 3" in length. Concolor fir is becoming a popular Christmas tree with its striking foliage, good needle retention, and zesty tangerine fragrance. Prefers well-drained fertile soils. A slow grower, but perfect for the customer looking for one-of-a-kind Christmas tree. Mature height 70 to 90'.
Comments
This species is a good landscape fir for the North and tolerates urban conditions. The needles are 2" long, variously green, bluish, and silvery blue; of conical habit; prefers full sun but tolerates light shade. The habit is strongly spirelike to narrow-conical with tiered branches.
San Isabel source has excellent blue color and cold hardiness.
